Osgood is good

Peter Osgood, 'The King of Stamford Bridge', Chelsea legend and all-round good bloke, tragically and suddenly died on 1 March 2006.

There has been a lot of talk and tribute this week, and what has struck me is that I don't think I know a Chelsea fan that hasn't met him and hasn't got a story to tell. It explains a lot about this man. He always had time for every fan, regardless of where he was or what he was doing, and he was always thoroughly nice.

I met him a few times, and it was always like chatting to your uncle. He made you feel like he knew you, even though I'm not old enough to have ever seen him play.

Football hasn't had a good year. George Best (58) and Peter Osgood (59), two legends of the game. With any luck, Ossie will by now have found Bestie, bought him a drink, and they will both have gone off in search of Emlyn Hughes, to give him a right good kicking!

RIP Ossie.

Bye bye Baggies

2-1 win. Easy, as usual up there. Have fun in the Nationwide Baggies.

The trouble was, another red card. The 5th this year, after 20 months without a single one. Evidently, it's the new directive. If you can't beat us with 11 men, try with 10. Still doesn't work chaps, but if it makes you feel better....

No doubt at all that it will happen again tomorrow night in Camp Nou. It always does. It's simply a case of how many. Uefa and the rest of football will get what they want, but it will be a hollow victory. You might win Barca, but you won't beat us.
